The Tail Chaser Report: May 2016

May was and exceptional month of fishing in the FL Keys!!! We had a good weather for almost the entire month and the Tarpon were very happy. Tarpon is the primary species this time of year and they seem to be swimming everywhere you look. During the full moon, we experienced an awesome Palolo worm hatch and hit some good fish.

May is Tarpon season and we’ve been hitting plenty of giant migratory Tarpon over the past few weeks. In between Tarpon fishing we’ve made some pit stops on the Bonefish flats and put some quality fish to the boat.

I had a cancellation and was able to sneak out on the big boat for a couple days of offshore fishing this past week. We chased down the birds and hit a bunch of big Mahi Mahi, Skipjack Tuna and filled the freezer with some beautiful fillet’s!!! Was able to get offshore for a day with and pick on some Tuna, Dolphin, Muttons and Permit.

Found a couple big Cobia on a Bull Shark while Tarpon fishing the other day, fed it a fly and got the skiff a little bloody and delicious Cobia filet’s!!!

Tight Lines,
